The Cuda's in the House
Well, actually the yard.

I'm so proud of DSO. He turned lemons into lemonade with this one.

A few months back, we both bid on and won saddles. At the same time. Because we didn't communicate with each other. Anyhow. We wound up with 2 saddles. Except the saddle he got was NOT the saddle he ordered! And we couldn't get them to take it back, no way no how no sir.

Anyhow. We wound up with this saddle that we couldn't use. Sitting here. For months now, we've tried to sell it for about what we paid for it, with shipping. No luck. A few nibbles, and that was it.

Worse, we had this problem looming over our head. The much beloved Barracuda was sitting in Shoreline, unable to be driven up (looks like it's just a bad battery, but still...) to Everett.

Something good came into play at the very last moment. DSO found a lady who put the cart before the horse (just like us) and got a horse before she could really afford a saddle. The solution? She got the saddle for her Quarter Horse. She and her husband trailered the Barracuda from Shoreline to Everett...and it looks like it might just be a friendship in the making too.

So now the 'Cuda's in our yard, till we can afford a new battery. Then, once it's rolling along, we get the seats into a reasonable shape (or replace them temporarily with something we can drive around in) and start getting the rest of the interior redone. Oh, she'd be a beaut if we can just get her cleaned up!

Hercules! Hercules!
Oh man. You know what, it feels good to do three impossible things before breakfast.

It's been no secret. The move that DSO and I have had has been horrifically BAD.

And in the end, the last, hardest task was to move the Barracuda. They gave us until the 14th to move it off the property (despite the fact that the original agreement was till the end of January). So in the wee hours of the morning this morning, we crept out of the house, having exausted all other possibilities, and drove to Shoreline. We tried, but the poor old 'cuda was too drained to start. The cold weather had taken its toll. That meant only one thing.

We had to push.

We had to push, DSO and I, out of the parking space, up a small hill, around a corner, over a speed bump (and that was damned hard if I do say so myself), and out of the parking lot, and then across the street, and parallel park. All on shared human muscle between us.

We did it. And it took a grand total of 35 minutes. To go about 1/8th a mile. On human power and one poor, tired, cold old car.

Arriving home, we also got the welcome news that someone was willing to trade hauling the car to the location of our choice in exchange for the 'accidental' saddle that we didn't need for Baby. Huzzah!

So at some point after Wednesday, we'll be moving the car :) YAY!
